The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed sixteen commissioner nominees in a two-day exercise chaired by the Speaker, Danladi Jatau.

The screening process, that held at the State Assembly complex in Lafia, involved a thorough assessment of the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and vision for the development of Nasarawa State.

However, the process was not without controversy. On the first day of screening, one of the nominees, Kwanta Yakubu encountered a setback as members of the Assembly accused him of insubordination.

The lawmakers, citing his past actions, demanded that he submits a letter of apology to the house before he could be reconsidered. Consequently, Yakubu was not screened on the said day.

On day two, Yakubu complied with the Assembly’s directive, tendering a letter of apology to the House. Following this, he was allowed to undergo screening, bringing the total number of screened nominees to sixteen.

During the proceedings, the Speaker, Danladi Jatau condemned acts of insubordination and urged all nominees to uphold integrity and discipline in their service to the state. He emphasized the importance of dedication, urging the appointees to put in their best to advance the progress of Nasarawa State.

At the end of the exercise, all sixteen nominees were confirmed by the Assembly’s screening committee, paving the way for their swearing-in and assumption of office.
