Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, from all legislative activities for a period of six months.

The decision came after the adoption of the report from the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, which found Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of violating the Senate Standing Rules (2023 as amended) by allegedly bringing the Presiding Officer and the entire Senate into public disrepute.

As part of the suspension, the Senate outlined strict measures, including Locking her office for the duration of the suspension and mandating the return of all Senate property in her possession to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

The senate also barred her and her staff from accessing or being seen within the National Assembly premises during the suspension period.

Natasha will not receive her salaries, allowances

Her security personnel assigned to her are withdrawn and Prohibiting her from publicly identifying herself as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, both locally and internationally, while the suspension lasts.

The Senate, however, noted that it may review the suspension or consider an early recall if Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan submits a formal written apology for consideration.
