Gov. Okpebholo Approves N1B Soft Loan for Market Women in Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved N1 billion as soft loans for market women across the state to help boost their businesses and enhance their livelihoods.

The governor made the announcement while declaring open an event in Benin City to commemorate the 2025 International Women’s Day.

He commended the women of Edo for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and contributions to the state’s progress.

The Festival Hall at the Government House, the venue for the event, was filled to capacity as Edo women gathered to join the world in celebrating the 2025 International Women’s Day.

Governor Okpebholo, while honoring the women, said his administration has approved a N1 billion soft loan initiative for women aimed at strengthening their businesses and boosting the state’s economy.

The governor acknowledged the crucial role that women play in both the family and society, highlighting their impact on the lives of men and the society.

The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Edesili Anani Okpebholo, urged Edo women to always aim for the top and never settle for the back seat. She praised the governor for taking decisive steps to ensure no woman in Edo was left behind in the pursuit of equal opportunities and justice.

This year’s theme for the international Women’s Day is “Accelerate Action for women and girls”
