Paul Pogba Completes Doping Suspension, Eyes Return To Football

French midfielder, Paul Pogba has completed his 18-month doping suspension, and he is ready to return to official football competition.

After an extended exile from football due to a doping ban, he is finally free to re-enter the competitive scene. However, his future remains uncertain, as he currently does not have a club following the expiration of his contract with Juventus in November 2023.

The talented midfielder, who was part of the France national team that won the World Cup in 2018, tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in an anti-doping test conducted in August 2023. Since then, he has been away from the pitch, confronting not only his sporting suspension but also personal issues, including a deeply affecting extortion case.

Pogba has expressed his desire to return to elite football, but his contractual situation makes immediate reintegration into a top-tier team challenging.

During a Twitch broadcast with streamer AmineMaTue, the player revealed that he has received several offers but has yet to find one that truly convinces him.

Despite being a free agent, Pogba has not finalized his next destination. Some leagues, like France’s Ligue 1, impose restrictions that prevent clubs from signing out-of-contract players outside the transfer window.

This limits his options in Europe, although many clubs were mentioned as potential suitors before the winter transfer window closed. Among the options emerging for Pogba are Russia and Brazil.

In the South American country, his friend Memphis Depay has invited him to join Corinthians, though Pogba humorously stated he would play there “for the love of football” without receiving a salary.

Another strong possibility is the United States. Pogba and his family have been residing in Miami since October 2023, and he was recently seen meeting with David Beckham, other stars like Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets on the roster, the team could serve as an attractive destination for the Frenchman.

The American league’s transfer window closes on April 23, giving Pogba time to decide whether he wants to continue his career in North America.

As he determines his future, Pogba has been training independently in the United States, focusing on his fitness following over a year without an official match.

His last appearance came on September 3, 2023, when he still wore the Juventus jersey.
