Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has raised alarm over rising cases of COVID 19 infections in the state noting that the state has been recording an average of six deaths per day in the last week.

Sanwoolu who disclosed this while addressing newsmen on COVID 19 update in Lagos House Alausa attributed the increase in Covid-19 cases to the high influx of inbound passengers to Lagos especially holidaymakers.

The governor who confirmed that the country has just received the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine assured residents that Lagos will get a considerable number out of the four million Moderna covid-19 vaccines once NAFDAC completes the sample testing.

He added that those who took the Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine as the first dose should not take the Moderna covid-19 vaccine as the second dose but wait until Astrazeneca vaccines are available again.

He also enjoined residents not to lose guard on the non-pharmaceutical protocols and compliance, warning that anyone caught violating the protocols in public places would be prosecuted.

Governor Sanwo-Olu appealed to students on a summer holiday to adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols and report any suspicious symptoms in their schools to the Eko Telemed free toll line adding that over five thousand residents were admitted to the Isolation centers at the IDH hospital in YABA in the last one month.
