Rivers State, currently under a sole Administrator appointed by President Bola Tinubu, is expected to receive a total of N559.1 billion from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) in 2025.
This translates to an average monthly allocation of N46.5 billion.
According to the Budget Document, within the next 6 months, the State’s FAAC allocation is projected to amount to N279.5 billion.
Additionally, the State plans to generate N264.368 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2025, with a monthly target of approximately N22.03 billion. Over 6 months, this would amount to N132 billion.
The combined revenue from FAAC and IGR could total over N411.734 billion within 6 months. This significant revenue has raised concerns about how the funds will be managed, particularly given the ongoing political crisis in the State.
The crisis led to President Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency rule and the appointment of a sole Administrator. Critics argue that the struggle for control over Rivers State’s allocation is a key factor in the crisis.
