Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has declared Monday, August 9, 2021, as Work -Free day in the State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba.
He explained that the holiday was in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar Muharram 1, 1443 AH.
The governor urged workers to use the work-free day to pray for the country to deliver it from the prevailing security challenges.

Ganduje also congratulated the Muslims on the dawn of the new Islamic year, which calls for thanksgiving and sober reflection.
The statement further elicits the support and cooperation of the people as the government strives hard to better their lots in the face of daunting challenges facing the nation.
