President Muhammadu Buhari and members of his delegation to London, the United Kingdom who returned to the country have gone into isolation over Covid-19 concerns.

This development follows the report of the positive Covid-19 test of the UK High Commissioner, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola who was in close contact with the President at the Airport in London and other members of the Embassy staff.

The Nigerian High Commission has since been shut down for 10 days in observation of UK Covid-19 safety regulations.

President Buhari was accompanied to the UK by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of State Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (Rtd), and Director-General of National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, among others.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the development to ait. live said Buhari and his aides would go into isolation as part of international travel guidelines.

In an SMS sent to our correspondent, Shehu said “Yes Please” to inquiries about the President and his aides proceeding on isolation.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire had last week ruled out the plan of a new nationwide lockdown in the country owing to a rise in the number of confirmed Cases of Covid-19 occasioned by the Delta variant.

It is however not clear whether those who received the President on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja have also proceeded on isolation. They include his Chief of Staff, Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari, FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello, and some of the Service Chiefs.
