Update: Troops search for missing victims of Jos killings

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have continued with patrols to search for the few remaining victims of the Rukuba Road attack on commuters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, North-Central Nigeria. Troops have also reportedly dominated Jos metropolis with robust patrols and surveillance to maintain law and order.

On Sunday, troops rescued a total of 36 victims of the attack. They are said to be in a stable health condition while those hospitalized are responding to treatment.

In a statement signed by the Military Information Officer, Major Ishaku Takwa says more arrests have been made in connection with the deadly attack on 5 commuter buses that left 23 persons dead. There are now 21 suspects in custody for the attack.

Troops have in addition to patrols mounted surveillance with security checkpoints to enforce the curfew imposed on Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa local government areas.

Commander of Operation Safe Haven has called for calm and urged all residents to always make good use of available help center lines to provide information to troops for prompt action. He further assures that the perpetrators of the deadly act will face the full wrath of the law.
