Benue Governor, Ortom calls for tougher security measures to combat incessant killings

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has condoled his Plateau State counterpart, Simon Lalong and the entire people of the state, over the recent massacre, which occurred around Rukuba Road in Jos.

Ortom stated this at the Government House Makurdi, where he shared his thoughts over the unfortunate incident and other security concerns in the country.

The Governor who decried the spate of killings in the country urged stakeholders to join hands with a view to deal with the worsening security situation.

The Benue State Chief Executive maintained that leaders must rise up to their responsibility or regret their inaction.

He advised the Federal Government to accept any counsel that could help in curbing the insecurity situation, stressing that the Presidency’s practice of tagging those with different views on issues as enemies, is unhelpful.

He said that a desperate situation, calls for drastic measures to contain the disturbing trend.
