The Zamfara State Government has debunked claims by some residents that governance was absent since Governor Bello Mohammed joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Some residents had claimed that the Governor was busy focusing on the reconciliation with the former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa’s faction of the APC in the state, thereby jettisoned the social contract with the people and the ongoing war against insecurity in Zamfara State.

In his reactions, the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, said that insecurity was worse in the state before the coming of Governor Mohammed, who reduced it to the barest minimum, through the peace initiative agreed with the bandits and the local militias.

The Insecurity in Zamfara State had created massive humanitarian crises with many rural dwellers sacked by the bandits.

And there were communities like the Dansadau area where the farmers could not access their farmlands nor Gusau, the state capital unless they have security escorts.

The Commissioner for Information said there is nowhere in the state currently where farmers cannot go to the farm, or access Gusau, the state capital.

Dosara hinted that residents are now moving freely in the state contrary to the claim by some residents that the people of Dansadau cannot come to the state capital except with the assistance of security operatives.

He stressed that security, education, welfare, and the general well-being of the citizens remained top priorities of Governor Mohammed-led administration.

This he said informed the humongous amount of money, the state government is spending monthly, to empower women, youths, and indigent citizens, to pull them out of poverty.

The Zamfara State Information Commissioner also noted that the carrot and stick approach adopted by the state government and the security agencies in the fight against banditry is still in force due to its effectiveness at returning peace to the state.
