The former military Head of State noted that the media must always ensure that balanced news items are sent out to the public at all times.

He emphasized the need for Journalists to play their role as the watchdog of society.

He advised that the union should take adequate measures to sanitize the profession, from those who would want to destabilize the peaceful coexistence of the country.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger State Council, Abu Nmodu, informed the elder statesman that the NUJ under his leadership is poised to instil discipline among the members in the state.

He told the former military Head of State that his leadership is focused on welfare, discipline, training and retraining of the members in the state, among others.
