The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, has condemned the Edo State government directive to forcefully vaccinate the people.

Speaking at the weekly vaccination briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, Faisal said, though it is not proper for Nigerians to be forced into taking the vaccine, it is also not right for people to infect others with the Covid-19 virus hence the need for the people to be vaccinated.

Only recently, the people of Edo state in south south Nigeria protested against the compulsory mass vaccination order given by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Shuaib Faisal, noted the federal government does support coercion but believes people have the right to accept to be vaccinated or not.

As the 2nd phase of vaccination begins, Faisal promised that the Presidential Steering Committee and the Federal Ministry of Health will continue to explore ways of making the vaccines more available to all Nigerians.

He urged Muslim and Christian faithful in Nigeria planning to perform pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem to get vaccinated as the vaccination certificate will serve as a pass to the holy lands
