SUPER EAGLES

The National Sports Commission, NSC has announced that the Super Eagles will play three friendly matches during the June 2025 international window.

NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko revealed this on Thursday. He said the opportunity will allow the technical crew to reset, mould, and perfect the team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers resuming in September 2025.

Dikko emphasised that Nigeria remains firmly in contention for qualification despite the setback against Zimbabwe.

To support the mission, the NSC, in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), negotiated a revised remuneration and bonus structure with the team for the remaining six qualifiers.

Funds were promptly disbursed, with payments for the recent Rwanda match settled as agreed and the Zimbabwe match bonuses paid a day before the game

Osimhen scored all the goals against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The friendly matches in June are seen as a critical step to refine strategies and maintain momentum for the qualifiers, with the Super Eagles keeping their “eyes firmly on the ball” as they chase a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

The NSC’s proactive approach, including financial backing and strategic planning, shows their dedication to ensuring the Super Eagles are primed for success.

With qualification still within reach, the upcoming camp and friendlies signal a renewed push toward achieving Nigeria’s World Cup ambitions.
