Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has affirmed September 30, 2021, as the date for elections into sports federations.
The Federations have been directed to begin the necessary process for an elective congress as stipulated by their various constitutions.

The Ministry said National Sports Federations that have their constitutions ratified by their International sports bodies and the Nigeria Olympic Committee NOC will conduct their elections based on their respective Constitutions.
Only Six federations have ratified their constitutions. They are Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Nigeria Basketball Federation, Nigeria Boxing Federation, Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Nigeria Shooting Federation, and Nigeria Table Tennis Federation
For federations yet to ratify their constitutions, the Ministry states it will provide guidelines for their elections on the same day.
The Ministry of Sports alongside the Nigeria Olympic Committee will serve as Observers in all the elections.
