The Delta State Police Command has dismissed two of its officers, for assaulting a tricycle rider in Warri.

In a statement issued and signed by the command’s Spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, the two dismissed officers, Sgt Felix Ebikabowei, and Ndubusi Abazie, attached to the ‘B’ division in Warri, were on illegal stop and search duty on the 12 of August 2021, when they assaulted One Broderick Omesan, along the estate roundabout in Warri, thus inflicted serious injuries on his head and body.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he has since been receiving treatment.

The Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammad, upon receiving the complaint, immediately directed that the case be transferred to state CID for a discrete and unbiased investigation.

The statement noted that both officers were found guilty after an orderly room trial and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.

The Command is however using this medium to warn its officers, to desist from human rights abuses and unprofessional conduct.
