A faction of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Katsina State, under the name, PDP A GYARA, has accused the Chairman of the Party, Salisu Majigiri, of rejecting reconciliation.

The faction’s Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Lawal Safana, who said this during a press briefing, at the end of its meeting in Katsina said, they are willing and ready to reconcile, ahead of the 2023 general election, but the Majigiri led executives are foot-dragging.

The aggrieved members of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, called A GYARA, fell out with the main party executives, after the State Congress held in 2020.

As a result of the development, several court cases were instituted, which are awaiting the Court of Appeal’s judgement.

Though both parties set up a 5-man reconciliation, to meet and iron out grey areas, the A GYARA faction is still accusing the party leadership of not being sincere.

The Chairman of the factional reconciliation team also said the faction will have no option, but to resort to going back to court to seek redress, since the leadership of the party is not willing to accept their stance.

According to Safana, the situation is certainly a cause to worry and concern to all bonafide members of the PDP in Katsina State, as the party is in extreme distress, and the earlier the situation is addressed by the national leadership, the better, as time is of the essence.

Reacting to the allegations, the Party Chairman, Salisu Majigiri, debunked the claims, saying, considering the 2023 task ahead, he is willing and ready to embrace and enter into reconciliation, to strengthen the party.

Majigiri said, he is optimistic, that the party will use all its internal crisis management mechanisms, to resolve all issues, saying due to the large nature of the party, one cannot rule out the crisis.
