The Defence and Police Wives Association, DEPOWA, in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Displaced Persons, during the 61st independent anniversary celebration of the nation in Kaduna on Friday , donated 30 wheel chairs and other hospital consumables to the officers and soldiers, who were wounded in the Theatre of Operations.
President of DEPOWA, Victoria Iraboh who made the donation at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, said it was a show of gratitude to the wounded soldiers, who put their lives on the line, to defend the nation.

The Commissioner for the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Displaced Persons, Imaan Suleman-Ibrahim, also acknowledged the sacrifices of the wounded soldiers, saying the commission and DEPOWA, will continue to support them and their families in their difficult times.
DEPOWA said that on the occasion of Nigeria’s 61st independence, it was important to let the wounded soldiers know that, the injuries they sustained in combat operations speak to the nation of their sacrifice.
