NECA DG Timothy Olawale, dies in Abuja

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, has announced the death of its Director-General, Timothy Olawale.

A statement from NECA Secretariat issued in Lagos on Saturday says Olawale died on Friday, October 1 in a hospital in Abuja.

The statement adds that the association was in contact with the family and more information would be communicated in due course.

Olawale was said to have slumped and died after attending the board meeting of the association in Abuja.

Olawale was confirmed as the substantive Director-General of NECA in January 2019, after six months in
an acting capacity.

He succeeded Segun Oshinowo, who retired in December 2018 after serving the association for 19 years.

NECA is the umbrella body for the organised private sector employers in Nigeria.
