As Nigeria marks her 61st independence anniversary, wife of the Benue State Governor, Eunice Ortom, has called on politicians to focus more on empowering women for stronger participation in politics.
The Governor’s wife,who made the call in Makurdi, the State capital at an empowerment programme for awomen and youth, maintained that the men have undue advantage over the other sex in the political arena, hence her call for more women to be given more opportunities.

She also called on goverment at all levels to key into empowerment schemes targeted at uplifting the woman.
She encouraged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity provided so as to be self reliant.
