Taraba State Government has distributed food items to physically challenged persons for eid-il-fitir celebration.
The distribution of the items was undertaken by the State Palliative Committee in Jalingo the State capital.
Chairman of the committee, Saleh Sa’ad said there are food items earmarked for distribution to over 3000 physically challenged people across the 16 Local Government Areas in the state.
Sa’ad said the gesture is the State Government ‘s modest way of putting smiles on the faces of the weak and vulnerable during the eid celebration.
The Sallah day celebration in Jalingo was in a low key but peaceful, with the Muslim faithful starting the day with special prayers at various eid grounds.
Calls were made for the well-to-do to reach out to the poor in the spirit of Ramadan to cushion the economic hardship faced in many homes.
