The Igala Cultural Development Association, ICDA wants the ruling houses and Kogi State government to expedite action in appointing an Attah Igala as further delay would cause more apprehension and suspicion in the land.

It came out with this at its annual general meeting that held at the unity house, in Ayingba, Kogi state on Saturday.

It is over one year since the Attah Igala of the Igala people in Kogi State went on hunting expedition, leaving the traditional stool vacant without a king, a situation the Igala people say has retreaded their spiritual, social, political and economic growth.

The Igala Cultural Development Association is the highest socio-cultural decision making body of the Igala people where their welfare oriented issues are discussed and addressed.

The wnnual General Meeting of the association that held on Saturday saw Abubakar Sadiq re-elected as president for the second term. The major concern of the delegates from the thirty-six states of Nigeria and the FCT, is that the emergence of an Attah Igala would give the Igala people a sense of direction.

The National President, Abubakar Sadiq wants Igala elites to put the interest of the land above their sentiments in the choice of the Attah

To some delegates, the spiritual and economic progress of Igala land is greatly tied to the presence of an Attah Igala on the throne.

The need for genuine reconciliation among warring sons and daughters of the land after the last election was another task handed down to the ICDA executive to broker peace and unity across party lines.

Besides impressing on the stakeholders responsible in the appointment of an Attah, issues relating to the unity of the Igala people, their social, political and economic wellbeing were handed over to the ICDA to map-out strategies of making the region more viable in all fronts.
