It was a day of public outrage in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on, Tuesday as residents woke up to the disturbing scenes of the lifeless bodies of two newly born babies abandoned at different locations in the capital city.
With the intervention of relevant authorities, the bodies of the babies were evacuated and buried at the Abakaliki cementry.
The residents were shocked to see a wrapped masking carton containing the lifeless male baby dumped at Igweja junction, along the Ogbaga road in Abakaliki.
Some sources who spoke to ait.live claim that the baby was dumped at midnight on Monday, by an unidentified man who came with a motorcycle.
And by Tuesday morning, residents crowded the scene to have a look at the corpse, with many expressing shock, anger and disgust, while others rained curses on the perpetrators.
The Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Ebonyi State chapter, Grace Chima, was among the concerned persons who came to the scene to see things for themselves and find a way of evacuating the body.

Just as arrangements were being made to address the situation, news filtered in that yet another baby was lying lifeless at a refuse dump around the popular Abacha roundabout, near the demolished Abakpa market, Abakaliki.
ait.live moved over to the other scene, it was a disturbing sight, another corpse of probably a day-old male child which was allegedly dumped by the mother overnight.
Through the combined efforts of the Police, the Ebonyi State Ministry of Women Affairs, and the FIDA, the dead bodies of the two babies were evacuated and buried at the Abakaliki cemetery, amidst sober mood.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Loveth Odah, promised that detectives will swing into action with a view to unmasking the perpetrators and make them answer to the crimes.
