One year after the EndSARS protest across Nigeria, residents of Jos, Plateau State are still putting pressure on the government to fulfill promises made and show a sense of empathy to families traumatized by Police brutality.

Some family members of victims and human rights activists who spoke to ait. live say the government only set up panels of inquiry without any tangible results

By this time last year, the popular old Airport Junction, the meeting point for the Endsars protesters on the Plateau was occupied for days. Promises made by the government to address the issues on the ground led to the setting up of Panels of inquiry to look into complaints raised by citizens.

As States across the federations hold one-year memorial protests, the old airport is normal due to the ban of the procession in the State as human rights activists say it is one year on, but the lessons of the EndSARS protest have not been learned.

The family of Peter Bala, whose son a 200 level student of the University of Jos was allegedly shot dead by Police Personnel expressed disappointment.

For these human rights activists, Government only set a template for its self which has not been achieved.

Although no one saw the report of the EndSARS panel of inquiry, residents remain hopeful that it would justify the means and bring succor to families traumatized by Police brutality.
