This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu.

The statement said, the Commissioner of Police while responding, informed the NYSC Coordinator in Zamfara State that the Command has commenced investigation into the incident, to establish the actual number of prospective youth corps members abducted by the bandits.

Similarly, a joint search and rescue operation is ongoing, to ensure the safe rescue of prospective youth corps members along with other abducted victims.

The Police Commissioner assured prospective corps members of Police commitment to safeguarding their lives and enjoins them to be security conscious wherever they are.
