The University of Port Harcourt governing Council has promised to collaborate with the hydrocarbon pollution remediation project in research of environmental restoration as soon as the ongoing construction of the centre of excellence is put into use

The pro chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, said this when he led members of the council on a visit to the centre of excellence for environmental restoration in Ogoniland.

Members of the 17th governing council of the University of Port Harcourt, led by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, are on a solidarity visit to the the project coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) Prof Zabbey Nenibarini, who is an alumnus of the university of Port Harcourt.

According to members of the council, Prof Zabbey Nenibarini’s achievements in implementing the Ogoni clean-up project are quite commendable as they have brought hope to the people of Ogoni Land.

The visiting members of the 17th governing council of the University of Port Harcourt who embarked on an inspection tour of the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration in Ogoniland and commended the federal government for the project and promised to partner with HYPREP in environmental restoration
research in the Niger Delta and beyond.

The HYPREP project coordinator, Prof Zabbey Nenibarini, thanked the council for the visit which he described as a morale booster and highlighted the benefits of the Centre of Excellence designed to promote innovative research in environmental remediation and restoration.
