Poly lecturers raise alarm over 1% admission application by candidates

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP has raised alarm over the appalling one percent subscription of polytechnic education at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME in the last five years.

ASUP President, Anderson Ezeibe at a briefing in Abuja, the nation’s capital call for urgent intervention by both the Federal Ministry of Education and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

Ezeibe added that following a study it was discovered that other tertiary sub-sectors get more candidates due to the unsettled dichotomy between the Higher National Diploma, HND and other certificates, especially university degrees

ASUP is also seeking partnership in reversing the negative indices associated with the polytechnic education sub-sector
