Katsina State to review shutdown of Telecommunication Services

Katsina State Government says it will soon review the Security Challenges Containment Order, currently enforced in the state, especially the shutting down of telecommunication services in 13 local government areas.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Musa Danladi, who gave this hint, on the sideline of a public lecture, recently held in the state said, the review of the order, is a result of appreciable successes, recorded in the ongoing onslaught against the bandits.

The containment order also made provision for the banning of the sales of petrol in jerry cans, polythene bags, transportation of animals to other parts of the country, restricts the the movement of firewood to and from the forest areas, closure of some roads, dismantling of illegal and roadside motor parks, amongst others.

With about 62 days of the order in place, the state government says, appreciable successes have been recorded, with several bandits’ enclaves destroyed, some of them killed, while many of them have been arrested by the joint teams of the security agencies.

He said the people cannot afford to stay out of communication forever.

He further called on the people to continue to imbibe the spirit of cooperation being extended to the security agencies, while the order lasted, and desist from being informants to the bandits.
