Edo Security: Gov. Obaseki assures indegenes of adequate protection

Edo State government has assured that it will continue to protect its citizens against criminal elements in the state with the continuous Involvement of community based Vigilante groups in its present security architecture.

This assurance was part of the resolutions arrived at during a security meeting held at Iguobazuwa in Ovia South West.

The stakeholders security meeting at ofumwengbe at its environs brought together community leaders, leaders of local Vigilante groups in the area, the police and the Hausa Fulani community.

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shuaibu and other keyplayers say the meeting was key in addressing pockets of complaints concerning farmers, herders clashes and other security challenges in the area with a view of appraising the present security architecture in the state.

Worried by reports of kidnapping of travellers on the iguobazuwa axis of the Benin-Lagos expressway, keyplayers in the security sector say they believe that the involvement of indigenes in the security architecture of the state will yield positive results not only in tackling kidnapping on the highway but also within the communities including other criminal activities.
