The Conference of State Assembly Speakers has sought the Governors’ Forum to intervene in the Plateau State Assembly Leadership crisis.
In a press statement issued by the spokesman of the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers who is also the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abdul Burra, the plea was made after a crucial meeting between the leadership of the Speakers’ Conference and the leadership of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
According to the statement, the conference of the speakers expressed shock over the crisis in the Plateau Assembly, which has seen two factions emerge with two speakers.
The conference, therefore, called for the quick intervention of the Governors’ Forum, calling on all the parties to sheath their swords.

It also called on the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong to use his wealth of experience, as a former plateau speaker to intervene in the matter.
The statement added that the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Fayemi Kayode in his response said, he has requested Niger State’s Governor Sani Bello to meet his counterpart, the Governor of Plateau to end the crisis.
