Delta State Governor senator Ifeanyi Okowa has called on the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111 to use his influence to advance the peace and development of the Itsekiri people, Delta state and Nigeria at large.

Okowa who made this call when he played host to the Warri Monarch and his palace chiefs at government house Asaba expressed delight that the monarch has promised to synergise with their neighbours, the Ijaws and the urhobos.

He charged the Itsekiri nation to give the Olu their maximum support so as to achieve this great feat.

The Governor reminded the people to work towards a united Nigeria and to continue to pray to overcome its present challenges noting that no meaningful progress could be made in an atmosphere of rancor and acrimony.

Earlier, the Olu said the visit was to thank the Governor for his support during and after his coronation and to seek ways to strengthen the existing bond of unity between the Itsekiris and the Government.

Thanking governor Okowa for his leadership style that has repositioned delta state for sustainable growth and development, the Olu pledged that his reign would be characterized with peace and shared prosperity with the ijaws, urhobos and other ethnic groups in the State.
