Voting has started in most polling units under Awka Ward 5 in Awka South LGA in Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State, South-East Nigeria. This is however with exception in two polling units, where the voting process has not been activated as at 10.30am.
The units include Polling Unit 034 located at the Umuobu Village Square, and Unit 035, in Obinwabucha Village Square.
The exercise in other areas is currently on, with appreciable number of voters turning out to exercise their franchise, despite initial concerns over the security situation.

Police and other security agents are also cited at the voting areas, and on the roads, to forestall breakdown of law and order.
However, eager voters who had gathered at the four polling units of Umubeele Afor Agulu Awka, could not immediately vote, due to the initial delay of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, which is newly introduced by the electoral umpire.
