Candidates who registered to take the mock test of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME on Thursday encountered various challenges.

ait.live visited some centres in Nasarawa state and the federal capital territory where it was observed that the tests, which were scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., had not started as at 10 am.

Parents and guardians who say they travelled long distances to locate their children’s centre said the delays are caused by broken down power source, uncoordinated officials and poor or not Internet connectivity

Reacting to the development via telephone with Abulu Osemuaghu, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin said no centre was permitted to use sub-standard power source and that any centre encountering the challenges mentioned by parents is not a JAMB approved centre.

Benjamin, however, said that teething problems are expected in such exercises and warned that there is a standing regulation that parents and guardians should stay away from UTME centres.

The JAMB UTME mock examination for 2025 is a nationwide exercise, scheduled for Thursday, April 10, ahead of the actual examination billed to begin on April 25.
