Taraba State Government has sent a delegation to the Manga community at the border between Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon,

The move is part of efforts to unravel the circumstances that led to the recent attack by Ambazonian separatist soldiers from the Republic of Cameroon on the community in Takum Local Government Area of the state.

The delegation also included security personnel and community members who are still living in fear and counting their losses.

The fleeing refugees are from Okpa Community in Southern Cameroon, and share the same cultural heritage with the people of Manga Community on the Nigerian side.

At least 12 persons were killed by the Ambazonian separatist’s soldiers, including the village head, while 20 persons are still missing.

The Nigerian Immigration Service was the only security outfit present in Manga community when the separatist soldiers attacked the community

Soldiers are now visible in Manga community. The people however, want the new security arrangement to remain permanent.

It takes a seven-hour trip by road, and water to get to the Manga community from Takum Town.

Notably, the community has a porous border, with no mobile phone network, nor police or military presence before the attack.

It is estimated to have at least 3,000 residents.
