Thirty-four thousand vulnerable persons are to benefit from Zamfara State Government’s Free Healthcare Services, through its contributory healthcare scheme.

The target beneficiaries of the Free healthcare services are pregnant women, children, physically challenged persons and older persons in the state.

The idea is to make healthcare services more accessible and affordable to vulnerable persons in the state.

Accessing quality healthcare services for the vulnerable is a big problem in Zamfara State, due to the lack of money and the activities of bandits, who pose serious challenges to the people of the state, especially the rural dwellers.

The launching of free healthcare services to 34,000 vulnerable persons will bring some relief to them, as they can access free and quality healthcare services within the state.

A total of 231 beneficiaries will be selected from each of the 147 wards, comprising 92 pregnant women, 116 under-5 children, as well as 23 aging and physically challenged persons.

Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State, while launching the scheme, disclosed that already, his administration has paid its mandatory N100 million counterpart funding to access the funds, for the effective, smooth and immediate take-off of the scheme.

The Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Agency, ZAMCHEMA, Abdulkadier Shinkafi, said the scheme is working hard to ensure that the vulnerable persons and other people in the state enjoy quality healthcare services.

The Bello Mohammed’s administration is committed to making healthcare services accessible to the residents of the state, which is why it is improving healthcare infrastructure across the state.
