The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has given broadcast stations owing licence fees, up to December 20, to settle all outstanding debts, as failure to do so will lead to sanctions.
The commission also said it is set to publish names of debtor stations in national newspapers, two weeks after the expiration of the deadline.

This was disclosed at a one-day meeting of Northern broadcast key players, held in Kano State.
The meeting convened by the National Broadcasting Commission is to dialogue with Commissioners of Information and General Managers from the northern states, on the challenges faced by the commission.

Stakeholders at the meeting also called on NBC to reduce the cost of license fees.
Broadcast stations were also charged to initiate quality contents that would build a harmonious Nigeria, and abstain from divisive content.
