Kwara State University expels 87 students in two academic sessions

Authorities of the Kwara State University, Malete expelled 87 students during the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic sessions for various offences bordering on indiscipline, drug related offences, internet fraud, robbery and examination malpractice.

The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Muhammed Akanbi who said this during the pre-convocation briefing at the campus, maintained that the institution took the punitive measures to ensure that the few bad eggs among the students do not contaminate the decent ones.

While restating the University’s stand against indiscipline amongst both students and staff of the Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Akanbi maintained that the expulsion of the 87 students followed investigations and the establishment of their guilt by the Students Disciplinary Committee
On other areas of the University’s scope of operations, Professor Akanbi said the Kwara State University is setting the pace in aircraft engineering in Nigeria as two students Abdulzahir Usman and Israel Adeniyan designed and constructed a light aircraft which is set to attain an altitude of thirteen thousand feet at 220 kilometre per hour.

He acknowledged the University is facing some challenges and called on the state government to intervene in the matter of encroachment ofthe tertiary institution’s land.
