The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has charged a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Kenneth Minimah Rtd, before a Federal Capital Territory High court for alleged misappropriation of the sum of N13 billion, meant for arms purchase.
Minimah was charged alongside a former Chief of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Army, Major General A. O. Adetayo Rtd, and a former Director, Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, retired Brigadier General R. I. Odi.
The defendants have objected to the charge, contending that the EFCC does not have the powers to try them for functions they performed in the course of their duties.
