Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), finally appeared before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on the state oversight on Friday after failing to honour two earlier invitations
The state administrator apologised to the lawmakers for his absence at two earlier meetings, asking for additional time to adequately prepare and present a comprehensive briefing to the committee.
Ibas explained that his inability to honour the committee’s invitations was not out of disregard but due to the weighty and urgent demands of stabilising governance in Rivers State, expressing full commitment to cooperating with the committee and ensuring that all relevant information was made available in due course

The committee, in its resolution, accepted the Sole Administrator’s apology and granted his request for rescheduling of the meeting to enable him to prepare a comprehensive report on his stewardship of the state.
The Committee Chairman, Julius Ihonvbere noted that the cooperation of all stakeholders is crucial in stabilising governance in Rivers State, maintaining that the committee remains open to constructive engagement in line with the principles of accountability and the rule of law
