President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has firmly dismissed calls for his resignation from office, declaring that he has no intention of stepping down over what he described as “baseless and frivolous” allegations.

Akpabio made the remarks while responding to comments from Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who had earlier urged lawmakers to stay focused on their legislative duties following the passage of key Tax reform Bills.

Addressing the issue, Akpabio said he would not allow himself to become a victim of a miscarriage of justice, asserting his commitment to continue in office and fulfill his responsibilities as Senate President.

The Senate President has faced growing pressure to vacate his position following allegations of sexual harassment made by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as well as separate claims linking him to alleged electoral fraud during the 2019 general elections.
