President Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation of 18 Nominees for South-West Development Commission

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of 18 nominees to the Senate for confirmation as Chairman, Managing Director, and Board members of the newly established South-West Development Commission (SWDC).

In a letter addressed to the Senate and read at plenary, President Tinubu nominated former Senator Olubunmi Adetunbi, who represented Ekiti North in the 9th Senate, as Chairman of the Commission.

The President’s request is in line with Part 1, Section 2(5)(c) of the South-West Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2023.

The nominees includes:

•   Sen. Olubunmi Adetunbi – Chairman

•   Dr. Charles Akanji Akinola (Osun) – Managing Director/CEO

•   Bolaji Idris Ariyo (Lagos) – Member

•   Joseph Akin Olugbenga (Ekiti) – Member

•   Hon. Scholastica Olanike Omoworare (Osun) – Member

•   Oluwamuyiwa Timothy Olabimtan (Ogun) – Member

•   Dr. Adewinle Olayinde Martins (Ondo) – Member

•   Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Adeniyi Olaifa (Oyo) – Member

•   Hon. Kabiru Ado Lakwaya (North-West) – Member

•   R. Adm (Rtd.) Abdul Biu Adamu (North-East) – Member

•   Mr. Arinola Fagbemi (North-Central) – Member

•   Ukoha Onyekwere (South-East) – Member

•   Engr. Howell Ihenacho (South-South) – Member

•   Olusegun Joshua Olufehinti (Ondo) – Executive Director, Projects

•   Tele Ogunjobi (Ogun) – Executive Director, Finance

•   Hon. Funmilayo Tejuosho (Lagos) – Executive Director, Corporate Services

•   Fatai Ibikunle (Oyo) – Executive Director, Commercial & Environmental Development

•   Lateef Ajijola (Ekiti) – Executive Director, Social & Human Capital Development

The Senate is expected to begin the screening process and report back in one week.
