Women and stakeholders in the advocacy for women emancipation have pledged to tackle the rising cases of gender based violence, enlightening the families on the dangers of violence against minors and the girl child and ensuring prosecution against offenders.
They made the pledge after a four-day workshop on cases of gender based violence organized by the Gombe state ministry of women affairs and the centre for study and resolution of domestic violence.
The workshop touched on issues of enlightenment and sensitization of families and members of the society on the dangers of violence on minors and the girl child and ensuring prosecution.
For four days, participants especially wives of chairmen of local government areas, were educated to be the drivers of the campaign to ensure prosecution of offenders are taken seriously.
For the organizers, they are confident that steps would br taken to tackle the scourge.
