Police Arrest Suspect In Possession Of Counterfeit Currency In Hajj Camp

Police in Niger State say they have succeeded in arresting a suspect at the Hajj camp who was selling alleged counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims.

The incident was said to have occurred on May 18 following a credible intelligence report received that one of the suspects was sighted in Hajj Camp Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Minna.

Confirming the development, the Spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, said police operatives attached to Bosso Division swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspect in possession of forty thousand Francs CFA suspected to be counterfeit currency.

“On the 18th of May, 2025 at about 11:45am, based on credible information received indicated that a syndicate which specialises in selling alleged counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims, and one of their suspected member was sighted in Hajj Camp Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Minna”

“Police operatives attached to Bosso Div swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested one Nda Baba Mohammed, 27yrs of Agaie LGA who was found in possession of forty thousand Francs CFA suspected to be counterfeit currency”.

In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed that he stole the said currencies from the house of one Mohammed of Kwara State, during the period he went to carry out farming activities for him.

The suspect is in custody and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain the origin of the said currencies, after which he will be charged to court for prosecution
