Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has asked his supporters, Rivers people and other Nigerians to thank President Bola Tinubu for the swift intervention he made to save the state from looming anarchy, following the political crisis that had erupted.

The governor also disclosed that the peace and reconciliation process, which will eventually lead to the restoration of all executive and legislative institutions and offices, was already underway, and assured that democracy and good governance will soon return in the State, with both arms working together for the good of the people.

The governor spoke at an event held in Port Harcourt to mark his two years in office.

It’s May 29, 2025 a date that marks the second year of Siminalayi Fubara’s tenure in office as Governor of Rivers State.

For now, the governor remains suspended following the political crisis that led to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

Apart from when he cautioned his supporters from acts capable of undermining the peace process, the governor has all the while refrained from speaking on the matter.

Addressing leaders and stakeholders of the ‘Simplified Movement’, the governor says the crisis will soon be resolved.

He wants his supporters and the people of Rivers State to thank President Bola Tinubu for the bold decision he took to save the state from degenerating into anarchy.

He added that the time has come for all parties to embrace peace, pursue reconciliation and forgiveness for the development and progress of the state.

Starting with himself, Siminalayi Fubara is pleading for forgiveness from anyone who may have felt disappointed in his handling of the crisis, emphasising that his actions were guided by a desire to protect the peace and progress of the state.

He further expressed apreciation to President Tinubu for the steps he has taken as a father to restore peace, stability and good governance in the state, as he assures of a reconciliation with the former governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Nyesom Wike, very soon.

He added that since the President’s intervention, several reconciliatory meetings have been held, including some at the FCT Minister’s residence.

Siminalayi Fubara also used the occasion to thank the people of Rivers State for their sacrifices and  the opportunity given to him to serve them, promising never to betray the mandate given to him.
