The Nigerian Air Force has taken a bold step towards improving battlefield medical response by graduating 24 personnel from its maiden Combat Lifesaver Course.
The training, held in Kaduna, focused on equipping troops with life-saving skills in combat situations.
The three-day intensive training was organised by the Nigerian Air Force School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine, in collaboration with the German Technical Advisory Group.
The course was introduced in response to the increasing number of combat-related injuries and the urgent need to stabilise casualties before evacuation.
It aims to reduce preventable deaths, boost mission success, and protect the lives of military personnel in active operations.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Dari, described the course as a game changer.

He said it equips frontline troops with essential life-saving skills that could determine survival during battle.
He emphasised that the training enhances combat readiness and promotes a culture of care and support within the armed forces.
The Head of Mission of the German Technical Advisory Group, Lieutenant Colonel Holger Bernard, praised the graduates for their dedication and commitment, noting that their motivation contributed greatly to the success of the training.
The graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone in the Nigerian Air Force’s pursuit of deliberate training and mission-oriented force development.
