Francisca Ordega believes the Super Falcons have the quality to win a record-extending tenth title at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Nigerian women team had a disappointing outing at the last edition of the competition where they finished in fourth position.

Banyana Banyana of South Africa dethroned them as African champions at that edition of the tournament.

The Justine Madugu’s side are gearing up for the next edition of the competition which will be hosted by Morocco.

The West Africans will take on the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a friendly at the newly renovated MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Ordega said they will do their best to beat other competing teams to the title.

“I think we want to win, nobody go to battle with the intension of losing, everybody want to win,” the Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia defender declared in a short video posted on Super Falcons X account.

“Other countries are going there to win, that should be at the back of our minds as well that this is what we want to do.

“Some of the young girls in the team have not tasted victory before, so they don’t know what it is like. I believe they have a lot of fight in them.

” We lost the title to South Africa, but this time around we want the title back. It is important for the new players to have that feeling too.”

The Super Falcons will face Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana in Group B at the WAFCON 2024 finals.

They will play all their group stage matches at the Larbi Zaouli stadium, in Casablanca.
