Nigeria as a country has been fighting multifaceted security threats ranging from terrorism, banditry, Kidnapping, farmer-herder clashes and other forms of violent crimes.

Prompted by the need to adequately secure the lives and property of its citizens, the Abia State Government in South East Nigeria says it is partnering with the private sector to mobilize resources to enhance the operational capabilities of security agencies within the state.

The worsening insecurity in Nigeria has to a large extent become the norm rather than the exception as cases of terrorism, banditry, Kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country continue to dominate the headlines of the major media outlets.

This social malaise has expectedly, taken a huge toll on personal and government resources as criminals continue to unleash mayhem on citizens.

This anomaly has created economic and social tensions, impoverished the populace and made refugees of individuals and families in their homeland.

The Abia State Government however says in efforts to checkmate the insecurity across the state, it has established a security trust fund to mobilize, manage and deploy resources in support of security infrastructure across the state.

The minister of state for Labour and employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha among other stakeholders emphasized the need for total Commitment to ensure that Abia State and Nigeria remain safe and secure.

Governor Alex Otti during the Inauguration of the Abia State security trust fund in Umuahia wherein over 3.4 billion Naira was raised, charged citizens to take more than a passing interest in the issue of security around their environment in order to remain ahead of the criminals.
