Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has challenged local government chairmen to key into and drive his administration’s agricultural revolution, emphasizing that agriculture pays more than entrepreneurship.

Speaking when he hosted chairmen of the eight local government areas, Governor Diri emphasized the need for practical application of skills in the agriculture sector.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state is looking forward to expanding his administration’s agricultural revolution to the local government areas.

Chairmen of the eight councils were in the government house at the instance of the Governor.

The governor has given the local government chairmen two years to achieve agricultural revolution in their areas, asking them to identify areas of comparative advantage in each local government and leverage the full chain of agriculture.

He also charged the Commissioner for agriculture, Professor Bekes Sese to prove his expertise in the field.

The LGA Chairmen one after the other spoke on their comparative advantage while also highlighting their challenges.

The current administration’s agriculture reforms are seen to be progressing, with partnerships with national and international bodies aimed at making Bayelsa a productive rather than a consuming economy.
