Zamfara State Government says it will not reverse its decision not to negotiate with terrorists and kidnappers despite the gruesome mass killing of 38 villagers of Banga in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of the State who were abducted in February 2025.
Governor Dauda Lawal who restated this said the state government will rather step up security in the area, including deployment of troops.
The governor’s stance was made clear through a high-powered delegation led by his Deputy, Mani Mummuni, who visited Banga village and four other troubled communities
According to the updated record, a total of 56 residents were whisked away by armed groups on the 9th of April, 2025 following the invasion of Banga Village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
Among those abducted were three pregnant women.

After their abduction, the bandits demanded one million naira per head from the families of the victims, but ransom was paid for only 18 persons, most of them women who were later freed.
The remaining 38 in captivity were handed knives to slaughter one another.
The Emir of Kaura Namoda Sanusi Asha, thanked the State Government for the efforts it is making to end the insecurity in the area.
Relief materials and financial support were offered to the families of the victims across the five communities visited.
