Bauchi State Governor’s wife, Aisha Bala, has called on religious leaders to take a stronger stand against child trafficking, illegal migration, and insecurity in the state.

Speaking at a Peace Seminar for Imams, Ulamas and community leaders, she warned that traffickers are exploiting vulnerable people, under the promise of greener pastures abroad.

Over 600 Imams, Ulamas and Community leaders attended the event themed, “Working Together for a Safer Society.”

Discussions focused on morality, social rights, the role of prayer and marital responsibilities.

The Executive Secretary of the state’s Muslim Pilgrims Board, Abdurahman Idris, and the District Head of Bauchi, Nura Adamu Jumba, urged clerics to promote peaceful coexistence and avoid divisive content on social media.

Aisha Bala, raised alarm over daily atrocities in societies, urging religious leaders to intensify community engagement in their daily sermons.

“Our people have been deceived, exploited and subjected to inhumane conditions. It is not the responsibility of government alone; it is our duty to educate our children against societal vices and the dangers of human trafficking. It is seriously disturbing,” she stated.

She emphasized that religious leaders must speak against hate, discourage violence and promote justice.

The seminar ended with special prayers for peace in Bauchi, and across Nigeria.
